When you feel anxious (1)

When you feel anxious (1)
‘Do not be anxious about anything…’ Philippians 4:6 NIV

Are you obsessed with trying to figure out things that should be left in God’s hands? When you’ve been working through some questions but have come to the point of deciding what you are going to do, stop fretting and just trust God. And don’t get stressed again a week later because you don’t like the way He’s handling it! Are you expecting God to just wave a magic wand over your life so that everything suddenly becomes all neat and tidy? Maybe as He takes you through the process of sorting out the mess you’ll discover valuable things hidden and forgotten. Paul says, ‘Do not be anxious about anything…’ (Philippians 4:6 NIV) That’s hard to swallow if you’re a bit insecure or you like to organise things; to find a place to put them so they make sense and feel ‘taken care of’. But how do you file unanswered questions? They annoy you like a crackly earpiece in your headphones or a scratch on your favourite CD! But when you have a crackle or a scratch in your faith, you can’t just go down the shops and get a replacement. Instead you have to talk to God about it and ask Him what He’s gonna do about it. You might find out that the things you think are high priority may not be anywhere near the top of God’s list for your life. So learn to live with loose ends and trust God! If you want growth, you’ve got to be at peace with the messiness and mistakes that accompany it. If you’re one of those people who needs to put everything into a neat little box, this Scripture is especially for you: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.’ (Proverbs 3:5 NLT)
