Integrity (2)

Integrity (2)
‘The integrity of the upright will guide them…’ Proverbs 11:3 NKJ

Double standards; have you got them? You know what we’re talking about: you’re upset one minute because somebody has made an insensitive, cruel jibe at your expense. Sure you’ll admit your nose is one of the more prominent features on your face, but to say what they said about it is just pure spite; why are some people so brutal, don’t they realise you’ve got feelings? And the next minute, you’re in the zone, bad joke after bad joke about your mate’s new haircut, everybody is suffering from a serious case of ‘sides well and truly split’ because of your gags. So, what if the mate with the haircut is close enough to hear? Can’t they take a joke? They need to lighten up, that’s their problem! Double standards: one rule for you, another for others. Now it doesn’t take an expert to point out that this isn’t the ‘holiest’ way to live your life, so no prizes for guessing where this is going: REPENTANCE. Sometimes a snide remark is the funniest joke-but should we be laughing? Let’s do a complete ‘hypocrite U-turn’. Do we want to be the butt of someone’s joke? No? Well, let’s extend that respect to somebody else; let’s not tear people down, let’s build people up. Jesus had this one well and truly sussed when He said, ‘Treat others as you want them to treat you.’ (Matthew 7:12 CEV)

Why is There Suffering?

It’s one of the most common questions non-Christians ask us. People often say that suffering is the reason why they don’t believe in God. The argument goes ‘if God’s so great, why does he let bad things happen to good people’? Even Christians sometimes struggle to understand the answer to this. So Alex recently asked…
