The roller-coaster ride of life (2)

The roller-coaster ride of life (2)
‘He has made everything appropriate in its time…’ Ecclesiastes 3:11 NAS

Life often seems to be up one minute, down the next. The Bible gives us some brilliant examples. Elijah rode life’s rollercoaster: one minute he was scaling the heights of God’s almighty victories, the next he was hurtling to an all time emotional low where he wanted his life to be over. Jesus felt the extremes of life’s highs and lows too. At the start of one week the crowds were singing his praises, a few days later they were yelling for him to hang him from a cross. Paul had a similar rollercoaster experience. One minute people were hailing him as some kind of god come down from the heavens, the next they were picking up sharp, dangerous objects to throw in his direction. Every major figure in the Bible had their ‘wind in the hair’ high moment of victory, but also their moment of gut wrenching nose-dive towards the abyss.
Life isn’t one endless upward climb or a dark pit that keeps on spiralling downwards: it’s a rollercoaster!
